MARIA RYLOTT-BYRD shares her journey and introduces Corneotherapy, a profession that is close to the heart of the BYONIK® method.

Maria is a passionate, Purist Corneotherapist, with a beauty industry career that has spanned over 35+ years. Having begun her journey as a beauty therapist, she niched into skin therapy along the way, ultimately finding her calling with Corneotherapy.

Now retired from her successful clinic of 18 years, she is dedicated to raising the profile of Corneotherapy, and as a respected voice in her field, she is often featured at events or in trade publications.

Her greatest satisfaction comes from channelling her knowledge and experience to inspire other therapists to learn, grow and succeed and she’s excited to soon launch of her much-anticipated skin education programme.

All too often, this industry focuses on aggressive and ablative treatments that offer quick fixes, but these can put the skin into crisis, whilst failing to address the root causes of skin concerns. So, instead of merely treating symptoms, perhaps we should explore why the skin is misbehaving in the first place. The reality is, no two skins are the same, nor is skin a one-dimensional appendage. It is, in fact, influenced by a myriad of unique variables, so we must surely consider the whole picture when determining what skin needs if we are to achieve homeostasis.

To do so is to take a functional and holistic approach, which is a philosophy that Corneotherapy embraces. 

The Epidermis may seem inconsequential for those who don’t yet und erstand it, but it lies at the heart of Corneotherapy. Its principles, seek to repair, replenish, and regenerate the skin by combining comprehensive knowledge, bio-identical ingredients, and modalities that don’t compromise the Acid Mantle, Microbiome or Stratum Corneum. Corneotherapy positively influences the behaviour of skin, and it isn’t uncommon to witness the dissipation of symptoms with this gentle, progressive methodology. 

Slow beauty may require patience, but by choosing to work with, not against, the skin’s natural physiology, we can promote its ability to repair and regenerate itself and, more importantly, avoid the collateral damage caused by taking a sledgehammer to crack a nut.

The skin is a complex, multi-layered ecosystem and it’s our job to understand, nurture and protect it…always!
